Pot Holders

Monday, 15 August 2011

These pot holders have been piling up for so long but I've been so terribly busy and incredibly lazy that I haven't had a chance to share them with you before. But I have other things waiting in line and I don't want to be unfair to my pot holders that I once had a craze for making. Here they are.

The Blue Frilly Cushion

Sunday, 30 January 2011

What do you think are some good retirement gift ideas? Well, mine was this frilly little cushion that one can sit back and rest her tired back on sipping her coffee and enjoying the days in peace and quiet.

Doesn't it sound so charming? To me, it definitely does! But, oh, I don't know how many more years I've got before I retire, 20,25 maybe even 30! This I need to find out soon. Anyway, this was a fun project to make although I had to do it in a short time, and as I am not yet so experienced with all this stuff, my patience began to run out towards the end.

First, I made the crochet block.

Then I stitched it onto a piece of floral fabric. As for backing, I used blue polka-dot fabric.

I thought the purple polka-dot frills would make a nice addition.

Fortunately, I finished it on time and have already handed it over. Now that I have learned from my mistakes, I believe I can make another one in less time. We'll see!

Happy New Year

Sunday, 2 January 2011

I've been quite busy these few days and couldn't give my blog the attention it deserved, and did not have the time to wish you all a happy new year. So, happy new year everyone! And I'm wishing myself a year full of new projects and lots of travelling...

İdil's Blanket

Wednesday, 22 December 2010

Here's the blanket I crocheted a few months ago for my sister-in-law's beautiful daughter, İdil. This is my first project ever. The pattern is called "Easy Ripple Afghan" -no wonder why I have preferred it- which I found to be so addictive that in the end, it turned out to be more a knee rug than a baby blanket! Well, hopefully İdil will enjoy its warmth and softness for many years to come!

My intention here was to create a cosy but unusual colour combination for a baby blanket, I mean something definitely not pink and white. And I am quite happy with the result. The purple edgings on each side were my addition to the original pattern and I think they make the blanket more complete.  Well, either way, if you would like to give it a try with your choice of colours, the pattern is available here. Happy crocheting!
